The West Ham United attacker has been linked with a move to Swansea City.
The transfer window is now open and Swansea City, more than most clubs in the Premier League, are in need of new signings as they attempt to get out of their current predicament.
Despite the 2-1 victory over Watford in Carlos Carvalhal’s first game in charge, Swansea remain bottom of the Premier League and have much work to do in order to preserve their Premier League status.
Bringing in a striker is likely to be high on Carvalhal’s list of priorities and Swansea are interested in signing Diafra Sakho from West Ham United, as reported by The Guardian.
While Sakho is significantly more experienced than Tammy Abraham and would surely be a better option than Jordan Ayew, there is little evidence to suggest that he would be the solution to Swansea’s problems.
Swansea have found the net just 13 times in the Premier League this season and require a prolific goalscorer, not someone in the mould of Sakho, who has scored only 18 times in 62 top flight appearances for West Ham.
Sakho certainly isn’t the best option for Swansea to consider and signing him wouldn’t do much to help Swansea’s chances of staying up.
