Reported Liverpool target Max Meyer is reportedly leaving Schalke for free this summer.

Schalke have today confirmed that midfielder Max Meyer will be leaving the club – and Liverpool must be ready to take full advantage.
Sporting director Christian Heidel was quoted by the club’s official Twitter account as saying that Meyer is ‘definitely’ leaving when his contract expires this summer, with an amicable exit agreed.
The 22-year-old will become a free agent this summer, and is bound to attract major interest despite registering just one goal and no assists for Schalke this season.
A German international playmaker with four caps to his name, Meyer is a diminutive midfielder with great quality on the ball, and with huge potential to be tapped into, Meyer could be a bargain this summer.

Back in March, The Mirror reported that Meyer was a target for Liverpool, with manager Jurgen Klopp well aware of how much talent the Schalke midfielder has – and it could cushion the blow of losing Emre Can.
Can, 24, is out of contract himself this summer, and looks set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer with a host of European clubs thought to be keen on the German international midfielder.
Seeing such a talented player walk away for nothing would be a huge blow for Liverpool, but landing another midfielder with huge potential at no cost would make it much easier for Liverpool to swallow.
Meyer is a more creative player than the box-to-box Can, but would still give Klopp the midfield boost he will need after Can’s exit, even with Naby Keita on the way; and on a free transfer, few Reds fans could complain about a move for Meyer.
