Everton are reportedly keen on signing the Manchester United ace.

According to a report from the Telegraph, Everton have expressed an interest in signing Manchester United star Marcos Rojo, but signing the Argentine would represent an expensive risk for the Toffees.

The 28-year-old is available for around £30 million this summer, according to the Sun, and despite today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, his performances for the Red Devils over the past four years do not really warrant that price.

Rojo joined United from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £16 million, after having impressed for Argentina at the World Cup in Brazil, but he has failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford.

The Argentine can operate as either a centre-back or a left-back, and although that will surely appeal to Marco Silva, there is surely better value to be had out there in the market.

He has failed to show that he is good enough to cut it at the very highest level on a consistent enough basis during his time with United, and there is no reason to suggest that he would make drastic improvements at Goodison Park.

Everton are far from hard up for cash, but even so, they cannot afford to be wasteful with their money, and signing Rojo for £30 million would surely be just that, considering his underwhelming performances for United over the past four seasons.
