Southampton should attempt to bring the Liverpool man to the south coast this summer.
Southampton boss Mark Hughes has a lot of work to do at St Mary’s this summer, if he is to guide his side to a successful Premier League campaign this season.
The Saints endured a miserable campaign last term, narrowly avoiding relegation down to the Championship, and their lack of potency in the final third was a major contributing factor behind their struggles.
They managed to score just 37 goals in 38 Premier League games last season, and the addition of a clinical goalscorer will surely feature highly on Hughes’ wish-list this summer.
With this in mind, the Southampton boss should consider a move for Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, who is available for around £15 million this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The 28-year-old has endured a nightmare with injury problems over the past few years, but he is still one of the best finishers in the game, and the opportunity to sign someone of his ilk for just £15 million is too good to turn down for the Saints, despite the obvious risk that would be involved.
Sturridge has scored 63 goals in 133 appearances for Liverpool, since moving to Anfield in January 2013, and despite the obvious risk involved in signing such an injury prone striker, that goalscoring record surely makes it a worthwhile one for Southampton.
If Hughes does in fact manage to bring the 26-capped England international to St Mary’s this summer, and he manages to maintain his fitness, it could turn out to be a stroke of genius from the Saints.
