According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa could be left waiting until the last minute to find out if they have landed Leonardo Ulloa.

Villa have been tracking Ulloa for some time, but Leicester City are loathed to lose the forward right now.

Leicester currently are facing interest in both Ulloa and Slimani, and do not want to lose both of the pair.

It means that Villa could have to wait until the last minute to find out of they have been successful in their pursuit.

It could, therefore, be a big risk to hang around and find out if they can land Ulloa, as Villa could miss out on other potential targets, but the rewards are obvious.

If Steve Bruce can bring the target-man to Villa Park he will significantly strengthen Villa’s options up-front.

Ulloa would offer Villa a real aerial presence, and he has been a massive weapon at this level before with Brighton & Hove Albion.

If Villa could sign Ulloa, they would surely become favourites to take second spot and earn promotion, and it may be worth Bruce’s side taking the gamble and waiting around to find out whether they will land the forward.
