Newcastle certainly need a striker, and the man is on the doorstep – but there might be competition from other big clubs seeking his services.

Newcastle United fans will be desperate for the club to sign Kenedy permanently, so they will be concerned by reports emerging this week.
Sky Sports claim Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have both approached Chelsea with regards to the winger who is currently on loan at St James’ Park.
While Newcastle look far from assured of sealing a permanent deal, failure to do so would represent a bitter blow for Rafa Benitez and the Magpies.

Kenedy has completely changed Newcastle’s style of play and their fortunes, offering something that nobody already in the squad could.
He is quick and tricky, unlike Matt Ritchie, but also tracks back and crucially helps Paul Dummett defensively – unlike Jacob Murphy and Christian Atsu – making the left-back look a much better player.
Newcastle have lost just once in Kenedy’s eight appearances, collecting an outstanding 15 points, and it is his signature that is most crucial this summer.
Indeed, should Newcastle fail to secure the Brazilian, they simply must recruit a player who has that same skillset, who is able to stretch the game – but also to protect Dummett and forge a partnership.

It is widely accepted that Newcastle need a striker this summer, but they have been able to pick up a superb string of results with Dwight Gayle up front since Kenedy arrived. Based on their current form, there is no doubting where the Magpies must prioritise their spending.
