Glasgow Rangers should get rid of the summer signing and bring in a quality replacement.

A recent report from the Daily Record mentioned Rangers as a potential summer destination for Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur and, while there is no suggestion the Gers have made contact with the soon-to-be free agent, bringing him in and ditching Carlos Pena would be a move welcomed by plenty of fans.
Rangers have a number of midfielders on their books but some are far better than others. Pena, who arrived at Ibrox in Pedro Caixinha’s sizable summer overhaul, has flattered to deceive thus far and could be sold just 12 months into his three-year contract.

His fans will point at the three goals he has managed in seven league games for Rangers this season, but his overall performances have not been of the sufficient standard and it is telling that caretaker boss Graeme Murty has quickly side-lined the Mexican international.
McArthur knows the Scottish football and he has a point to prove and time to make up for having seemingly fallen out of favour at Palace under new boss Roy Hodgson.

At 30, he still has a few years left at the top level and he would add even more experience and talent to a Rangers midfield that already boasts Graham Dorrans, Ryan Jack and the resurgent Jason Holt.
Pena was an experiment that went wrong at Rangers, as was bringing in the likes of Dalcio and Eduardo Herrera, but ditching the trio and looking at the right calibre of player from these shores could make all the difference as Rangers look to ultimately overtake Celtic at the top of the table.
