West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing the Newcastle United ace.

Isaac Hayden arrives for the Premier League Match between Newcastle United and Leicester City at St.James' Park on September 29, 2018, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

According to a report form the Telegraph, West Ham are interested in signing Newcastle ace Isaac Hayden this summer, but a move for the former Arsenal academy graduate would reek of a lack of ambition from the east London outfit.

The 24-year-old joined the Magpies form the Gunners in the summer of 2016, and he has gone on to make 94 appearances in all competitions for the Toon, but he has hardly set the world alight.

The Hammers need to bring in some real quality this summer in order to reach the next level, but Hayden would be just another journeyman pro, and he certainly wouldn’t excite the London Stadium faithful.

Hayden is a decent footballer, and will always put in a shift, but West Ham need to add more quality, creativity and invention to their midfield.

The Telegraph calms that the Hammers would have to spend around £20 million to sign the Newcastle ace, but that money would surely be better spent elsewhere.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini and the club’s board are constantly making noise about progressing and bringing success to east London, but they really must start acting like a big club if they are to do just that.

West Ham fans expect European qualification next season, and signing Hayden would surely be a backward step in their quest to achieve just that.
