Aston Villa are said to be tracking the Newcastle United winger.
According to the Mirror’s live transfer blog (4/12/2017), Aston Villa are interested in signing Newcastle United youngster Rolando Aarons and, were he to move to the Midlands, it could be the making of him.
The 22-year-old has struggled for game time at St. James’ Park, in no small part due to injuries, but this season he has been given sporadic chances to prove his worth.
It still may not be enough to earn a long-term stay at the Magpies, with Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez seemingly preferring other wide options. And, if that is the case, Villa is the perfect side for him to kick-start his career.
At first glance Villa are unlikely to sign another left winger given the outstanding form of Albert Adomah this season. Yet that does not tell the whole story.
Aarons can also operate on the right flank, where Villa are currently served by loanee Robert Snodgrass, and if their manager Steve Bruce wants to think ahead, a move for the Newcastle man could be ideal.
Bruce knows how to get the best out of young talent, as he has with the likes of Josh Onomah and Keinan Davis this season, and Aarons needs to move to a club where youth is both embraced and rewarded.
The player is also young enough to still potentially change positions, with a spell as a secondary striker not beyond the realms of possibility given his speed, creative ability and attacking threat.
In short, Aarons would be a risk well worth taking for a Villa side very much on the up under Bruce.
