West Ham United need to bring in a new front man as well as the Spaniard to get the best out of both.
According to a recent report from the Mirror, West Ham United are planning a loan move for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in January as the Hammers look to repair the damage done by their faltering start to the campaign.
On the face of it, a move for the Spanish international would seem to suit all parties, with Fabregas struggling for game-time this season and West Ham needing quality reinforcements.
However, the Chelsea man alone will not solve West Ham’s problems; in fact, his arrival could merely shine yet another light on them.
After all, even a fit and firing Fabregas – who has a remarkable 183 assists in his club career to date – would be of little importance if West Ham cannot find a forward to finish the chances.
Simone Zaza does not look to be that player, while injuries and off-field issues have blighted Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho respectively.
Jonathan Calleri has failed to make any impact to date while Ashley Fletcher and Toni Martinez appear to be more for the future.
With that in mind, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic would be wise to look high and low for a striker that could work in tandem with Fabregas should the Spaniard arrive.
That is easier said than done, but signing a creative mastermind will be of little consequence if the players ahead of him continue to fluff their lines.
