Solanke is likely to be available on loan as he looks to start playing regularly, with Daniel Sturridge outplaying him so far this pre-season and winning the battle to be Roberto Firmino’s back-up.
Leeds should be targeting Solanke with a view to linking him up with his former Chelsea teammate Lewis Baker.
It was playing alongside Baker in Chelsea’s academy where Solanke made his name.
They combined to help Chelsea win the FA Youth Cup, and the UEFA Youth League, and transferred their success to England youth level too.
Both players have failed to kick on, each enjoying their best football on loan at Vitesse.
Playing alongside Lewis Baker, Solanke’s best season for Chelsea at youth level saw him net 20 goals in 25 under-23 games.
Already capped by England at senior level, Solanke needs to play regularly in order to kick on.
With Leeds crying out for a new striker, a move for Solanke seems obvious, and can help get the best out of attacking midfielder Lewis Baker too.
