Newcastle United have been linked with making moves for the Chelsea and Liverpool men.

According to a report in the Northern Echo, Newcastle United are looking to bring in Chelsea’s David Luiz and Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson in the January transfer window, and the pair could completely transform Rafael Benitez’s side’s defence.
Newcastle have lacked quality in both boxes this season, and are currently on a run of nine games without a win.
The Magpies are now in the thick of a relegation battle, but the arrivals of Luiz and Robertson would make Newcastle so much stronger.

Luiz would be the highest-profile player brought to St. James’ Park in a number of years, and could finally be the rock for Benitez to build his defence around.
Newcastle are yet to find a consistent central defensive pairing this term, and that has hurt their chances of keeping clean sheets.

Robertson, meanwhile, would be a serious upgrade on Newcastle’s current choices at left-back.
Newcastle have generally picked Javier Manquillo to play on the left hand side of their defence this season, but the Spaniard has not been up to scratch.
The Magpies simply must add quality if they are to stay up, and the additions of Luiz and Robertson would be a great start in January.
