Rangers are keen on Ben Woodburn, and Josh Windass should hope he does not sign at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard is keen on bringing Ben Woodburn to Rangers, according to The Express.

The young Wales international is an exciting transfer target, providing Liverpool are willing to let him leave on loan.

Gerrard and Woodburn can both profit from a move, but there would be a loser too, in this case current Ibrox star Josh Windass.

Josh Windass of Rangers has a shot on goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers FC and Celtic FC at Ibrox Stadium on April 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Windass was Rangers’ second highest scorer last season behind Alfredo Morelos but he has struggled to win over fans due to the way he drifts in and out of games.

Woodburn is a player who would compete for Windass’ position, with his ability to play in an attacking midfield role as well as out wide.

He has a natural eye for goal, scoring on his Liverpool debut at just 16-years-old, and already netting for Wales at international level.

Windass will have to wait and see if he can win over Steven Gerrard, but Woodburn signing on loan would be a blow for his prospects this season.

Being just a loan deal, Rangers may not want to discard Windass entirely and will have to try and find a way to use them both, but it will be up to the former Accrington talent how he handles the competition.
