Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to Kwadwo Asamoah.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with making a move for Juventus full-back Kwadwo Asamoah, According to The Sun,.

Asamoah is out of contract at the end of the season, and on the face of it, signing Asamoah on a free transfer and selling Danny Rose for £50 million is astute business sense for Spurs.

But while chairman Daniel Levy may smile, manager Mauricio Pochettino would be left with a headache.

Regardless of a debate in quality between Rose and Asamoah, numbers-wise, it just does not add up.

Tottenham’s squad is already pushed to the limit in terms of non-homegrown players for Champions League registration.

Juan Foyth had to be left off Spurs’ squad for the knockout phases, with injured Erik Lamela not included for the first half of the season.

Lucas Moura was only accommodated because Georges-Kevin N’Koudou was shipped out on loan.

Part of why Rose is a valuable commodity to Tottenham is because he is homegrown.

Losing him and acquiring Asamoah would make Tottenham’s job to balance their squad even more difficult.

This is not to say Tottenham should not sign any non homegrown players, but they must pick and choose sensibly.

Giving up a spot for a reserve left-back is not a wise choice, and Luke Shaw would be a far more sensible addition, even if he would be a lot more costly.
