The Arsenal star would be an outstanding signing for West Bromwich Albion.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis has been criticised for his lack of ambition during his time in charge at the Hawthorns, although he surely deserves some credit for stabilising the club.
He has made an effort to change that this summer, however, by signing Jay Rodriguez from Southampton for a fee believed to be in the region of £14 million.
Now is the time to prove his ambition further still though, and with this in mind he should consider making a bold move for Gunners ace Jack Wilshere.
West Brom were desperately bereft of a creative threat from midfield last season, with their poor tally of just 43 league goals scored being evidence of this.
And the 25-year-old Englishman could be just the man to take the Black Country outfit to another level, despite concerns about his ability to remain injury-free throughout the course of the season.
He did show some promise during his season-long loan spell with Bournemouth last term, however, making 27 Premier League appearances, and the quality that he possesses would undoubtedly be an asset to the Baggies.
The Arsenal man is available for around £20 million this summer, according to the Daily Star, and whilst that seems a lot of money for a player with such a questionable injury track record, it could actually be considered as a bargain in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market.
With Wilshere’s wealth of experience of playing at the very highest level, he would surely improve upon West Brom’s winning mentality, and his ability to carry the ball up the pitch would undoubtedly help their ability to make the transition from defence to attack.
And if Pulis manages to bring the England international to the Hawthorns, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance.
