Bringing Alisson and Jorginho to Liverpool would surely give Manchester City something to think about.

Liverpool smashed West Ham United 4-1 at Anfield on Saturday to surpass the 100-goal mark in all competitions this season.

The Reds’ star-studded trident of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane came up with the goods again as all three found the net against the Hammers.

With 114 goals, Manchester City are the only English side to score more goals than the Reds this season, and yet Jurgen Klopp’s side are languishing 15 points below the high-flying Citizens in the Premier League.

Despite an outstanding attack, the Reds’ squad clearly falls short in other key areas. Two of those are central midfield and goalkeeper, but if Klopp signs the players who he has been linked with this summer then surely the German manager will mount a much more serious challenge for the title next term.

The Times reported on Monday that Klopp wants to sign Napoli deep-lying playmaker Jorginho as a replacement for Emre Can, whose contract expires this summer, whereas Sky Sports claimed earlier this month that Liverpool are already in dialogue with Roma over signing Brazilian keeper Alisson.

Signing the Roma star, and pairing Jorginho with Naby Keita – who officially joins the Merseyside club this summer – in midfield would undoubtedly make Liverpool a much better side.

In fact, those three, combined with the players already there, might give Liverpool their strongest ever squad in the Premier League era and one that would surely give Pep Guardiola’s side a run for their money next term.
