The Scunthorpe United winger has been linked with Sunderland.
Although Sunderland’s fortunes have improved following the appointment of Chris Coleman as manager, it is clear that the club still have much work to do if they are to stay in the Championship.
With his side currently in 22nd place in the table, one point adrift of safety, Coleman will be aware that the upcoming January transfer window could be crucial in determining whether the Black Cats survive.
One player who has been linked with a move to Sunderland is Scunthorpe United winger Hakeeb Adelakun, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The 21-year-old, who previously spent time at the academies of Crystal Palace and West Ham United, has produced some excellent performances for Scunthorpe in League One this season, scoring three goals and providing ten assists.
Possessing much pace and flair, Adelakun would surely relish the opportunity to test himself in the Championship and if the deal does go ahead then he could be of major assistance in Sunderland’s battle to avoid relegation.
Although he is usually deployed as a right winger Adelakun is also capable of playing on the opposite flank or as an attacking midfielder, and this is definitely a deal that Sunderland should pursue.
