Southampton will reportedly have to break their transfer record to sign Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes.

There is very little reason for cheer around Southampton Football Club at the moment, with the club 10 Premier League matches without a win and having just sold its best player, again.
However, they could be about to receive a massive lift courtesy of a new signing, with Sky Sports reporting that the Saints are interested in signing winger Quincy Promes from Spartak Moscow.
Sky Sports claims that Spartak would want £30m for the Dutchman, but that should be within Southampton’s reach after the £75m recouped on Virgil van Dijk from Liverpool – fee reported by BBC Sport.

Promes has an excellent pedigree, scoring 53 goals in 101 Russian Premier League appearances from out wide for Spartak, and winning the Russian Premier League footballer of the year for 2017.
He also has 25 caps for the Netherlands and scored a Champions League brace against Sevilla in October.
With a record like that, and entering the peak of his career, Southampton would be lucky to get the 26-year-old, who is keen on a move to England according to Sky Sports, ahead of admirers Liverpool.

The signing of Promes would be a huge boost for the Saints, who have slumped to 17th in the table this season under Mauricio Pellegrino, and whose recent transfer activity has been underwhelming.
Southampton used to have an excellent track record of reinvesting money made on player sales, replacing Luke Shaw with Ryan Bertrand, Dejan Lovren with Toby Alderweireld, and then Van Dijk, and Adam Lallana with Sadio Mane, but their incomings have been as disheartening as their outgoings of late.
Promes could be the man to change all that if the Saints can pull off this coup in January.
