Billionaire Jahm Najafi is reportedly set to open talks over a £3.1billion takeover bid of Tottenham Hotspur – and Simon Jordan has told TalkSPORT (Wednesday, 10.10AM) that if offered that fee, Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis will definitely sell.

After murmurs of interest from a Qatari Sports Investment group, The Financial Times say Najafi is set to make a bid for Tottenham. It is believed that a fee will be worth $3.75billion – or, £3.1billion. It would be a full takeover from ENIC.

It’s unclear what stage talks are at, but it is at the initial stages. Najafi is an Iranian-American businessman, running his own company in private equity. He also has ties to the Raine Group, who are investing in a number of European clubs.

Raine were central to Todd Boehly buying Chelsea, and are becoming the group to involve when businessman want to buy a stake, or complete a takeover. Manchester United have been involved of late, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe eyes a move.

Jordan, an ex-Crystal Palace owner and a man that has defended Levy over time, gave his take on a potential £3.1b bid from Najafi: “Interesting. A few months ago, I said there will be an influx of American interest in Premier League clubs.

“The Raine group are at the front of this. A long way from anything that will surpass initial talks. It is significant for Tottenham. Absolutely [they should sell]. If they’re offered to walk away with £3billion, they [Levy and Lewis] will sprint.”

Najafi to open Tottenham takeover talks: Jordan says Levy will sell Spurs

Levy has always come in for constant criticism over his unwillingness to spend. To keep the club in the top tier of sides in England. Unable to make Spurs an established top-four side, while others are splashing cash to maintain their status.

But there is plenty to admire regarding Levy’s reign. Spurs were in financial mess when he took over, and he has made them a huge club on the world platform. The club’s stadium and facilities are the best in Europe – that is down to Levy.

So, Spurs are an attractive proposition and at over £3billion, it is a huge figure. Does Levy, and Lewis, sell up? Without a doubt. They would get a huge profit for their work at Spurs. It is a move that suits all parties, including Spurs fans.
