Jacob Murphy has reacted with delight on Newcastle United’s Instagram at Matt Targett sealing a permanent switch to the club from Aston Villa.
On Wednesday, Aston Villa announced on Twitter that Targett had sealed a deal to Newcastle for £15 million.
The 26-year-old was on-loan at St James’ Park for the second half of the last campaign and helped Eddie Howe’s side maintain their Premier League status.
Like many of Newcastle’s January signings, Targett had a big impact on the team and the fans, hence why he will now wear black and white colours for the long-term.
Nonetheless, when Newcastle announced the signing of Targett on Instagram, Murphy posted the following message in the comments section.
“Tiggy signed tha ting,” said Murphy added with Heart-Eyes emoji.
TARGETT DEAL A NO-BRAINER
This transfer is one that suits both Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
In January, whilst Villa let Targett move out on loan, they signed Lucas Digne, who has had quite the impact on the Midlands side since his move from Everton.
The France international is now the undisputed number one at Villa Park and a key player under Steven Gerrard.
But whilst Digne thrives in Claret & Blue colours, Targett had a similar impact on Newcastle, so it was logical for them to push through with the deal.
Now, ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top between the two.
