Wolves clinched the signing of Benik Afobe from Bournemouth last week, but he could be making a swift exit.

The Sun report Wolves are considering trying to make a profit on the player they signed for £12.5 million, and Nottingham Forest should take an interest.

Forest are backing manager Aitor Karanka this summer and have already signalled their intent.

The Mail report they are set to spend £13 million on Portuguese talent Joao Carvalho, represented by Jorge Mendes.

They are clearly trying to replicate Wolves’ success from last season, and signing Afobe is a smart way to continue this.

The links with Mendes will help open doors and give Forest a potential edge to land the striker.

Forest have been looking for a prolific goalscorer since selling Britt Assombalonga a year ago and Afobe is proven at Championship level.

Signing him would be a clear statement of ambition and set Karanka’s side up nicely for a shot at promotion.

The Sun reported that newly relegated Stoke City are keen on Afobe, and Forest need to compete if they are going to be legitimate contenders.

Forest are seemingly being well backed this summer and Afobe would be expensive, but about as safe a bet as they could make at this level for big money.
