Rodgers has reunited with former colleagues Chris Davies and Glen Driscoll already at Celtic
Brendan Rodgers, much like any manager, likes to surround himself with those he’s worked with before.
His early signings at Watford, Reading and Liverpool came from previous clubs Chelsea, Watford and Swansea City respectively (Jack Cork, Jobi McAnuff and Joe Allen).
And it’s entirely feasible that when the Ulsterman’s first Celtic signing arrives, it’ll be someone with whom he’s worked before.
The centre of defence is said to be a priority for Rodgers, with Dedryck Boyata and Efe Ambrose set to miss the start of the coming season due to injury and the Olympic games respectively.
Meanwhile, Tyler Blackett has returned from whence he came and Charlie Mulgrew’s contract extension remains unsigned.

So to whom could Rodgers turn?
One name that hasn’t been mentioned yet, officially at least, is that of Steven Caulker, a player Rodgers signed on loan for Swansea in 2011.
The 24-year-old, who scored on his only England appearance, finds himself back at Queens Park Rangers following a pair of frustrating loan spells at Southampton and Liverpool last season.

He is however, unlikely to remain. The R’s are set to conclude a deal for Huddersfield’s Joel Lynch in the near future, as they continue their frugal approach to campaign number 2 outside the Premier League. And Caulker’s £30,000-a-week wages (West London Sport) need shifting – regardless of how good he may be.
While Celtic are hardly lavish with cash themselves, it is possible that QPR would be willing to subsidise a loan deal.
The lure of Parkhead, where Champions League football and his former manager await, could surely do the rest.
