Amadou Onana has been speaking to RMC Sport about his future, and Liverpool were mentioned by the 20-year-old.
What’s the story?
Well, the Belgium Under-21 international completed a move to Lille from Hamburg over the summer, but he could join Liverpool one day.
Onana was asked about other Belgians who have experienced life at Lille, such as Eden Hazard and Divock Origi.
The midfielder then said he would be very happy if he could emulate either Origi or Hazard by going on to join a huge club after he leaves Lille.
RMC Sport quote Onana as saying: “I don’t know if it played a part, but this connection between Lille and Belgians has always worked really well. There’s no reason why it wouldn’t this time around. They are players who have had very good careers, who are now at Liverpool and Real Madrid. If things go that way for me, sign me up immediately”.
It’s not exactly a come-and-get-me plea, but it’s evident that Onana is leaving the door open for a big move to the Premier League one day.
Despite his age, Onana has already made eight appearances for Lille this season, including two in the Champions League.
He seems to be a real gem, and a potential star of the future.
What could Amadou Onana bring to Liverpool?

If Onana does follow in Origi’s footsteps and swaps Lille for Liverpool, what would the Reds be getting?
Well, the 6ft 4in man possesses a physique that defies his 20 years, and would add real strength to Jürgen Klopp’s midfield.
Onana is also an impressive technician, and attempts to combine his technical ability with his physique to emulate his idol, Paul Pogba.
The Dakar-born powerhouse told Foot Mercato: “Yes, I am often compared to him. Pogba inspires me on a daily basis. He is a physical, technical player, with a real intelligence of the game. I think he is an exceptional player.”

In our view, it’s unlikely that Onana will move clubs again anytime soon, having only just joined Lille.
However, those at Anfield should definitely shelve his comments for now, and keep in mind the fact he seems willing to join Liverpool one day.
As things stand, it looks like Onana could be set for a very bright future.
