Former Rangers loanee played under new boss Pedro Caixinha before, and may have sent a message to those at Ibrox.

Former Rangers winger Vladimir Weiss chose the perfect time to score a wondergoal and potentially catch the eye of his old club in Glasgow.

Weiss scored just two minutes into Slovakia’s World Cup qualifier against Malta, to set his side on the way to a 3-1 victory.

The ex-Gers loanee is currently playing for Qatari side Al-Ghafara, where before this month he was playing under Pedro Caixinha, who has since taken over at Ibrox.

Rangers chairman Dave King hinted last week that Caixinha could choose to try and sign players he has previously worked with, insisting he will be given freedom to do so if he wishes, via the club’s official website.

If Weiss was not under consideration already, his goal should put him back on Caixinha’s radar.

It was expertly struck from the edge of the box to curl over the goalkeeper, showing he can still be a contributor at a high level.

Slovakia are in second place in England and Scotland’s World Cup qualifying group, putting Weiss in a position where he could head to Russia 2018.
