Liverpool have been encouraged to make a dramatic move for Matheus Nunes, despite speculation that he’s heading to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to Sky Sports, the Sporting midfielder is set to join the Molineux outfit in what’ll be a £42 million transfer.
However, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed on Wednesday that this is a player who is ‘definitely‘ on Jurgen Klopp’s radar at Liverpool.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Portuguese expert Pedro Sepulveda said of Nunes that he could command a ‘huge transfer’ away from Wolves as early as next summer, predicting an instant success in the Premier League.
And former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique believes that now is the time for his old club to strike to sign Nunes, not next summer.
He wrote on Twitter:

Is Matheus Nunes joining Liverpool?
Honestly, it seems very unlikely, Enrique does make a very good point.
If Sepulveda is right and Nunes is destined to become a Premier League star then Liverpool – who desperately need a midfielder – would be wise to consider hijacking Wanderers’ effort to sign him.
After all, Klopp still hasn’t even replaced Gini Wijnaldum at Anfield and the Dutchman left Merseyside well over a year ago.
Liverpool signing a midfielder is well overdue and if this talent really does excel in English football then questions will – and should – be asked as to why Klopp and FSG didn’t try harder, particularly if Bailey is right in saying that he’s certainly a target.
