Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a move for AC Milan star and Jorge Mendes client Rafael Leao.
According to CalcioMercato, City are in the lead to sign Leao. With Milan eager to retain one of the Serie A side’s most exciting prospects and a talent many regard as a future superstar for Portugal.
However, despite City’s interest in Leao, the report states that both Milan and the player are keen on staying together. With Mendes said to be working on a new contract for the 22-year-old.
Milan signed Leao in 2019 for a reported fee of £32m in 2019. Indeed, whilst the striker hasn’t been that prolific for the Italian giants, the former LOSC Lille star is regarded as a top talent.
Indeed, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a big fan of Leao, and City’s work will be cut out if they try to sign the attacker in the January transfer window. With Milan keen to extend the forward’s contract to 2026.
Moreover, on social media, City fans are not keen on the idea of Leao. With the attacker not a natural in the centre-forward position nor prolific enough to lead the line for the Manchester side.
