Newcastle’s Siem De Jong in action
Siem De Jong has been speaking about his hopes of Newcastle United sealing promotion to the Premier League, and playing a part in any subsequent top-flight campaign.
Speaking to Goal.com this week the Dutchman had this to say regarding Newcastle’s current good form in the Championship:
“This summer I will have conversations with Newcastle United and I hope they give me a new chance to show what I can do.
“For me it’s important that they get promoted back to the Premier League.”
When Newcastle signed the Dutch international hopes were high that the Ajax man could become a star for the Toon.
Unfortunately, his stay at the club was decimated by injury problems.
He suffered from a groin tear, a collapsed lung and a lacerated eye during his spell at St James’ Park – featuring just 26 times in two seasons and scoring two goals.
This summer, with Newcastle relegated, he was sent back to Holland – joining his brother and fellow Newcastle flop Luuk de Jong at PSV Eindhoven.

He has impressed with the Dutch side and may indeed be doing enough to earn himself a place back in the Newcastle fold.
Newcastle are currently top of the Championship and 11 points clear of the nearest challengers for automatic promotion, so the Premier League is looking likely.
De Jong will hope to play a part.
