The Dutchman is desperate to return to Newcastle United and he has done his chances no harm with an excellent display in the Eredivisie.

If Siem De Jong thought returning to his homeland on loan at PSV Eindhoven would be the sort of serene environment required to help him rediscover the brilliance that made him one of Holland’s brightest stars, a testing start to the season soon put pay to those hopes, as reported by The Chronicle.
De Jong, after all, is a former Ajax captain so he was hardly going to be greeted with a welcome parade by the Eredivisie giant’s arch rivals.
Yet, if you want to win over the crowd, scoring a brace isn’t a bad place to start. The Chronicle reported that, back in December, the injury stricken playmaker was booed onto the pitch by his own supporters.
Three months later, however, he departed the very same turf under a standing ovation. Siem, whose younger brother and fellow Newcastle flop Luuk leads the line at PSV, netted twice as the champions cruised past Roda JC 4-0.

It was a superb individual performance. Pulling the strings between the lines, De Jong scored PSV’s second and added another from the spot late on in his finest performance of the season. After making just 26 appearances in two injury-ridden years at St James’, the 28-year-old is once again showing exactly why they signed him in the first-place.
The Chronicle reported recently that Rafael Benitez is keeping in touch with De Jong as he believes he has a future on Tyneside; a feeling reciprocated by the midfielder.

“I want to return,” he said. “Newcastle United is a great club, especially when they play in the Premier League.”
On this form, he may just get his wish.
