Tottenham Hotspur are currently seven points behind Manchester United in the Premier League standings.
Rio Ferdinand has fired back at Tottenham Hotspur fans, who have criticised him on social media.
Spurs supporters have mocked Ferdinand, following Manchester United’s defeat to Manchester City at the weekend.
But Ferdinand has suggested that Tottenham supporters should be more concerned by the way their own side are performing, as they are currently below Burnley.
“Respect to Sean Dyche. His team are sitting fourth in the Premier League. The boys there need some saluting,” the former United defender said.
“But Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs fans – I suggest you come off social media right now. I don’t want to see any of you on there chatting any breeze. Don’t chat to me, don’t come with any stupid talk to me now. You’re below Burnley. Shut-up. Sit in your place. Silence.”
Burnley moved up to fourth place in the Premier League by beating Stoke City last night, thanks to a late goal from Ashley Barnes.
Tottenham are now under pressure to respond, by beating Brighton & Hove Albion when they play this evening.
If Spurs win the contest against Chris Hughton’s side, they will move back above Sean Dyche’s side in the Premier League table.
Tottenham have been in slightly disappointing in domestic football so far this season, and are now locked in a battle for a top four place.
Spurs are currently three points away from the Champions League qualification places, and seven points behind Manchester United, who are in second spot.
