Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that Sadio Mane not scoring in the penalty shootout against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium in London was partly his fault.
The Reds won the FA Cup final against Premier League rivals Chelsea on penalties on Saturday.
Mane played well over the course of the 120 minutes in the FA Cup final, but he saw his spot kick for Klopp’s side in the penalty shootout saved by his Senegal international teammate Edouard Mendy.
Jurgen Klopp on Sadio Mane for Liverpool v Chelsea
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “Sadio’s penalty is for sure at least 50 per cent my responsibility because you have to let the boys do what they think they do, but with him I said, ‘He knows you exactly, the goalie, so do the other way around.’ How very often in my life, I realised it’s better to shut up!”

Quadruple on
Liverpool have won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup this season.
The Merseyside club could well go on and win the Premier League as well as the Champions League this campaign.
The quest for the historic quadruple is still on.
But it is going to be hard.
Now, to win the Premier League title this season, Liverpool will need Manchester City to slip up.
Will Pep Guardiola’s side drop points in their final games?
Unlikely.
Liverpool will also have to face Spanish champions Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
Madrid beat Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City on their way to the final.
