Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, proceeded to sing ‘You’ll never walk alone’ to Noel Gallagher on CBS Sports on Paramount+ (29/05/21 at 7:05 pm) before Manchester City’s 1-0 defeat in the Champions League final.
Given that it was the boyhood Man City fans birthday, Carragher opted to sing him a song, and not a traditional ‘happy birthday’, but instead, Liverpool’s famous anthem.
And as the Liverpool legend went into song, Gallagher responded by saying ‘mate, that’s worse than one of your own goals’.
Whilst Man City have dominated the domestic circuit since 2008, one thing that has alluded them has been the European Cup, with Liverpool having six of those famous trophies in their Anfield cabinet.
And it isn’t a surprise that Carragher is continually giving Gallagher stick for that on a regular basis, as the Oasis star claimed that he was hoping to ‘shut that idiot up’ if his side could win the ultimate prize.
But it wasn’t meant to be for the blue half of Manchester.
“I’ll tell you what it’ll mean in the short-term, it will give Carragher less to moan about when he’s texting me after a league that we win,” said Gallagher.
The former Oasis star then mimicks Carragher and his accent: ‘Ah, yeh but mate, what about the Champions League?’ So, for a start, it’s going to shut that idiot up.”

It was a night to forget for those in Man City colours because, after dominating during the recent season, they failed to land any significant punches on Chelsea last night.
Guardiola’s call to play an extra attacking player and leave his two defensive midfielders – Fernandinho and Rodri – on the bench has now come back to haunt him.
Whilst the scoreline read 1-0 to Chelsea, their English counterparts were lucky that they weren’t at least 3-0 down inside the first half.
After the game, Carragher did put the knife in on Man City by questioning ‘Do you think Man City will ever win the Champions League?’.
And until they do, they will have to take the stick that comes their way, both from Merseyside and across Manchester.
