Aston Villa are reportedly closing in on Chelsea’s Charlie Colkett.

Aston Villa have already brought in Lovre Kalinic and Kortney Hause this month, but more signings could bolster Dean Smith’s squad.
Villa drew 2-2 at home to Hull City on Saturday afternoon, and it’s clear that Smith needs more reinforcements to rectify some issues at Villa Park.
Intriguingly, a link emerged last week with Chelsea midfielder Charlie Colkett, and a deal may in fact be close for the youngster.
According to The Sunday People (print edition, page 49, January 20, 2019), Villa are all set to sign Colkett, with John Terry allegedly persuading him to join Villa instead of Swedish side Ostersund.
No deal has been confirmed as things stand, but Villa are now favourites to land Colkett in something of a surprise move for the Championship side.
Colkett, 22, has yet to make a single first-team appearance for the Blues, with his only first-team football coming on loan at Bristol Rovers, Swindon Town, Vitesse Arnhem and, most recently Shrewsbury Town.

The midfielder made just appearances in all competitions for the League One side, and talk of a move to Villa Park has baffled many Shrews fans.
Shrewsbury supporters took to Twitter to suggest that Villa wanting Colkett is ‘crazy’ and ‘astonishing’, noting that he couldn’t even get into their side this season.
Others feel that Colkett does have huge talent but simply didn’t fit Shrewsbury’s style of play, which may just give Villa fans some hope that a deal will pay off.
