Jamie Carragher has been arguing with an Everton fan on Twitter today, and he made two big claims while also mocking a fan group’s decision.
What’s the story?
Well, after Carragher tweeted an article of his from the Telegraph which praised Jordan Pickford’s form for England, a fan hit back.
They claimed that the shot-stopper isn’t actually a different player for the Three Lions, and was in fact superb in the second half of 2020/21.
Carragher then found out that an Everton fan group – called Grand Old Team – had named Pickford as their Player of the Season.
As you can see, the Sky Sports pundit mocked that decision, saying it emphasised how poor Everton’s season really was.
Jamie Carragher’s two big claims

Aside from mocking Grand Old Team’s decision, Carragher made two big claims about the Toffees.
Firstly, he believes Ben Godfrey was robbed after not winning the award himself, which is a fair point in our view.
The £20 million defender took to the Premier League like a duck to water, and became a fan favourite thanks to his strong, no-nonsense challenges.
Carragher also made another big claim, this time when speaking about Pickford again.

The 43-year-old believes no club inside the Premier League’s top six would buy the England international, which is an interesting point.
We believe Carragher is right, but that isn’t meant as an insult to Pickford.
It’s more of a credit to the likes of Alisson, Ederson and Edouard Mendy, who are among Europe’s best goalkeepers.
