Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to Michael Bridge’s rant on Manchester City wanting to sign Harry Kane this summer.
The Sky reporter, who is also a Spurs supporter, delivered a passionate rant live on Sky Sports on Thursday morning.
Bridge asked ‘why should Daniel Levy accept a lower offer from one of the world’s richest clubs?’.
Last season, Kane won the Golden Boot in Tottenham colours and he was also the top assist-maker, despite being part of a Spurs side that finished seventh.
It was, without a doubt, the best season of the Englishman’s professional career and a sign of what is to come given that he has now entered his peak.
The Sky reporter shared that if Kane leaves then he would be a ‘monumental’ loss to Spurs and he would need replacing by ‘a number of players’ – 12 days of the window remain.
He then added that ‘there hasn’t been a bid yet which is close to getting Daniel Levy talking’.
One thing many have learnt over the years is that it’s not easy negotiating with the stubborn Spurs chairman.
Spurs supporters have backed Bridge and praised him for sticking up for the fanbase on such a well-known and widely-watched platform.
As things stand, Kane is still a Tottenham player and if Man City, who have spent nearly a £1bn on players under this current ownership, think they can get one of the world’s best players on the cheap then they clearly haven’t met Levy before.
