Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter in horror after seeing a graphic from BT Sport in the build-up to Saturday’s clash with Chelsea at St James’ Park.
Before kick-off, BT Sport showed a graphic displaying Newcastle’s statistics under Steve Bruce this season, and they don’t make for kind reading.
BT Sport revealed that the Magpies rank 20th in the Premier League for total shots, touches in the opposition box and also passes into the final third.
Effectively, Bruce’s men have been absolutely toothless going forward so far this season.
WhoScored can show that the Magpies average just eight shots per game in the Premier League this season, the fewest of any side in England’s top-flight.

Their timid nature was once again on show against Frank Lampard’s side.
Newcastle only had one shot on target against the Blues, and managed to have just 28.8% possession on their own turf – it was a truly anonymous display from the Tyneside-based outfit.

Additionally, Newcastle had just 442 touches of the ball in comparison to Chelsea’s 904 touches.
The west Londoners also completed 668 accurate passes, compared to the Magpies’ total of 206 as WhoScored shows.
Let’s see how the Newcastle fans reacted after seeing BT Sport’s graphic…
