Joleon Lescott has hit out at Leeds United on Soccer Saturday (28/11/20 at 12:40 pm) and claimed that they need to show the better sides ‘a little respect’.
From a neutral perspective, Leeds are perhaps the team to watch in the Premier League and that has been proven by the gung-ho, fearless and forward-thinking attitude they have taken into games.
With Marcelo Bielsa at the helm, Leeds will play only one way and, regardless of the outcome, they won’t stop – that was proven during last night’s 1-0 win at Everton.
Befoe that match, former Manchester City centre-back Lescott was first asked whether they can survive with a small squad before he was critical about how they approach games against the so-called top-six.
“Possibly,” said Lescott. “Obviously, one game a week, they have come from the Championship where it’s 2-3 games a week.
“I am sure they will be able to manage the game load. But the quality for me. I am unsure, still, in regards to what it is. I respect the approach that Bielsa has to the game.

“There are going to be times when you don’t have good enough players to do that. You are going to face teams who have better players man for man.
“And if you are going man to man then you need the betters players and you are not always going to have that. There needs to be a little bit more respect, for me in such a word to say that when you are going up against the top six/eight teams, show them a little bit more respect in regards to knowing your players are not going to be as good as there’s in certain areas. Overall, it could cost them later on in the season.”

Arsenal are considered as one of the so-called top-six and Leeds ripped them to shreds last Sunday and deserved three points from the game.
Long have gone the days where a promoted team comes up, sits 10 men behind the ball and allows the so-called better sides to dictate the play.
The likes of Leeds have approached games in a refreshing and attacking manner, one that English football has needed in the top-tier and it’s making for a better league and for better viewing.
