‘Should’ve kept him’: Some Spurs fans react as 22-year-old shines after MOTM display

Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to Marcus Edwards producing the goods out in Portugal for Vitória de Guimarães.

The 22-year-old, who netted the winning goal as his side recorded a 2-1 win against Famalicao, has been thriving in his new colours.

The flying winger, who was highly-regarded during his time in North London, picked up the Man of the Match award in the process.

Spurs fans have questioned whether they were too quick to part ways with the London-born player, who was dubbed ‘the next Messi’.

There was a lot of excitement around Edwards when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge, the quality he had at his feet and his ability to carry the ball with speed.

But he just couldn’t get going and eventually made a permanent switch to Portugal in 2019.

Things are going well for the player and he has scored two and assisted one in Portugal’s top-tier this season.

During Tottenham’s stagnation period, they have lacked the quality, bite and depth in their squad.

And it has left Spurs fans wondering whether they were too quick to let players like him go, especially given that they wasted a lot of money on a number of players.

There’s no doubt that they are pleased at how he is performing and how he has picked his career up.

Edwards has plenty of years left in his tank to one day make that return to England’s top-flight because that will, no doubt, be his end goal.
