Leeds United fans have reacted on Twitter to Pontus Jansson’s comments about the club following Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League over the weekend.
The 30-year-old, who left Leeds in 2019, spoke in awe of the Yorkshire giants and Marcelo Bielsa after the Bees beat Swansea in the Championship play-off final.
When Jansson left Leeds a number of years ago, a lot was made about the matter, with his former club going on to win promotion that season, whilst Brentford, at the time, lost the play-off final to Fulham.
But now, the London club have got over that very expensive line and they are now set to compete with the elite next season.
Jansson spoke of his ‘love’ for Leeds to Sky Sports and how ‘so many’ Leeds fans were now with him and Brentford to earn promotion.
Bielsa is well-liked by many across the footballing world and it’s no surprise that Jansson still thinks highly of the attack-minded coach despite their parting of ways in 2019.
It will be interesting to see what type of reception Jansson gets from the Elland Road faithful next season because he did build a strong relationship with those in Yorkshire when he was at the club.
That may have taken a few hits given how he left, but they have both now achieved their ultimate goal of playing Premier League football.
