Back in January, Paulo Gazzaniga’s Tottenham future was a hot topic as he struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho.
The Argentine failed to play a single second of football for Spurs this season, after Joe Hart’s arrival pushed him even further down the pecking order.
As a result, the club found him a loan move in January, shipping him off to Elche for the rest of the campaign.
However, Gazzaniga’s situation hasn’t changed at all – you could argue it’s become even worse.
Away from the familiar surroundings of England, where he’s lived since 2012, the 29-year-old is still yet to play a single second of football for the Spanish outfit, as Transfermarkt shows.
That’s right. Tottenham found him a temporary home to get him some action, and he still hasn’t kicked a ball.

In our view, Mourinho and Daniel Levy have seriously let the £20,000-a-week South American down.
Of course, Mourinho and Levy aren’t the ones selecting Elche’s starting XI every week.
However, one thing they could’ve done is include a clause in his contract with Elche, which states he has to play a certain amount of games, or else there would be consequences.
This is something Liverpool have done in the past.

In order for Marko Grujic to get plenty of action on loan at Cardiff, the Reds ensured the Bluebirds would be financially punished if he didn’t play at least 14 games, as the BBC revealed.
If Mourinho and Levy did the same, then Gazzaniga would surely be getting a lot more time out on the pitch.
However, as things stand, the shot-stopper has been seriously let down by his parent club.
