Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is clearly disappointed that he cannot call on Jack Harrison to face Manchester City this weekend.

Harrison joined Leeds last summer for a third-successive loan at Elland Road.

And with the Whites facing Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow afternoon, the in-form winger is ineligible to face his parent club.

Here’s what Bielsa said via Sky Sports News: “We would have hoped to have counted on him. Especially as his last performances have been good, but we knew about the rule that impeded him from playing.”

Harrison has been involved in 12 of Leeds’ goals in the Premier League this season – scoring seven and setting up another five.

He also scored in the win over Sheffield United last week and here’s how some non-Leeds fans reacted to Bielsa’s comments:

According to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay, Bielsa can sign Harrison on a permanent basis for £10 million once this loan agreement ends this summer.

And it’ll be a very welcome day when that happens, given how important Harrison has been for the veteran Argentine coach since 2018.

Victor Orta, Leeds’ sporting director, signed him three years ago and the 23-year-old has only progressively gotten better, so it’ll be fascinating to see how much he can improve yet over the coming seasons, particularly under somebody like Bielsa.
