Jamie Carragher has mildly criticised Andy Robertson for his incident with Brenden Aaronson during Liverpool’s defeat by Leeds United on Saturday evening.
Shortly before the half-time whistle, the Reds left-back and Aaronson were embroiled in a brief scuffle with one another.
It stemmed from Robertson fouling the Leeds attacker and then lightly kicking the ball into his stomach, when the latter was on the ground.
And Carragher believes that the Liverpool star knew exactly what he was doing.
He said on Sky Sports [29/10, 8:27 pm]: “Robertson shouldn’t have done that, he kicked the ball at the player on the floor. He knows what he’s doing.”

It was one of several flashpoints during an event-filled opening 45 minutes, which ended 1-1.
Joe Gomez’s horrific backpass was pounced upon by Rodrigo to open the scoring after four minutes, but Mohamed Salah equalised for the Anfield outfit 10 minutes later.
Liverpool did the majority of the pressing throughout the second half in pursuit of a winner, but it was a sucker punch from Crysencio Summerville that deflated Jurgen Klopp’s side, with the Dutchman scoring a last-minute goal to down the hosts.
All credit to Leeds, who battled for one another throughout the 90 minutes.
We know that because Tyler Adams also saw what Robertson did to his Whites teammate and was the first to confront the Scotland international.
There’s a lot to like about this Leeds team and the fact that they seem to have one another’s backs is among their admirable qualities.
