The Liverpool ace would be a superb addition to the Wolverhampton Wanderers squad.
Express & Star journalist Tim Spiers took to his official Twitter account today, and suggested that the addition of an established right wing-back is seen as a priority by Nuno Espirito Santo this summer.
The Portuguese has already announced himself to the English game, with nine new signings already brought into the club, and Wolves fans are beginning to dream that this season could be their club’s time to shine.
There is still further room for improvement though. Following the injury sustained by Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, Matt Doherty is Nuno’s only available option in the right-back slot.
Liverpool’s Jon Flanagan
With this in mind, a useful stop-gap solution for the Black Country outfit could be Reds full-back Jon Flanagan, who could be available this summer, with competition for places at Anfield fierce to say the least.
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan with Burnley, but made only 10 appearances as he continued his recovery from a long-term injury.
Flanagan possesses real quality though, and he would be an excellent addition to the Wolves squad.
He possesses fantastic levels of stamina, which enables him to get up and down the right flank. He offers just as much offensively as he does defensively, and has all of the attributes required to perform the wing-back role with distinction.
The Liverpool man has just two years remaining on his current deal on Merseyside, so Wolves might just be able to pick him up for a bargain this summer, and it could turn out to be a real coup for Nuno’s side.
