Wolves are likely to spend big this summer after gaining promotion to the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to splash the cash in the summer transfer window after gaining promotion back to the Premier League as Champions of England’s second tier, and Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla should be a wild card option.

The 33-year-old has failed to play for Arsenal this season and much of the 2016-17 campaign after a long-standing achilles injury that almost saw the Spaniard forced to have his foot amputated due to gangrene.

However, the former Malaga ace is said to be recovering from the injury and returned to training ahead of Arsenal’s Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid on Thursday evening.

Arsenal's Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla (L) trains on the pitch ahead of the UEFA Europa League first leg semi-final football match between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid at the Emirates...

But it remains to be seen if Cazorla will indeed return to play again for Arsenal, with his contract at the Emirates Stadium set to expire at the end of the season. It means he is likely to become a free agent this summer.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Cazorla admitted that he does not know if he will be offered a new deal in north London with less than two months left to run on his current deal.

Wolves have huge financial backing thanks to their cash-rich owners Fosun International, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo is likely to be given a heft war chest this summer to bring in the players he feels can keep Wolves up.

Santi Cazorla of Arsenal and Pedro of Chelsea embrace on the pitch prior to the Emirates FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on May 27, 2017 in London, England.

But surely he should take a flyer and try to convince Cazorla to join Wolves in a risky move that could have the potential to be the transfer of the summer – if the left-footed star can return to full fitness.

The Daily Star claim Cazorla earns a whopping £90,000 a week at Arsenal, but he may have to settle for a pay cut wherever he goes after a whole season out of professional football.

But he could get his career back on track with a move to Molineux this summer in a shock move that would excite Wolves fans ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League season.
