The Ivorian has just been released by Everton, and would be a useful addition to the Wolverhampton Wanderers squad.

New Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has a lot of work to do at Molineux over the course of the summer, as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for a place inside the play-off spots.

The Black Country outfit endured a challenging 2016/17 season in the Championship last term, and despite their final finishing position of 15th in the table, the majority of their campaign was spent deeply entrenched in a relegation battle.

One particular area where Nuno will have to address is his forward department, and the addition of an experienced, established striker will surely feature highly on the Portuguese’s agenda.

With this in mind, Wolves should consider a move for Arouna Kone, who has recently been released from Everton, and is available as a free agent.

The 33-year-old forward is arguably past his best, after suffering horrendous luck with injuries throughout his career, but he still has a lot to offer, especially at Championship level.

He still possesses blistering pace, and can play anywhere along the front-line, which would enable Nuno to play with more in-game tactical variety, rather than relying on his substitutes to mix things up.

Kone’s experience of playing at the very highest level for such a prolonged period of time would also prove to be a huge asset to what is still an inexperienced Wolves squad, and the 39-capped Ivory Coast international’s influence would be of equal importance both on and off the pitch.

One potential stumbling block in a potential move for Kone will be his wage demands, with the Daily Star reporting that he was on £40,000 per week at Goodison Park.

If some kind of compromise could be reached, however, the signing of the 33-year-old could prove to be a hugely significant one for Wolves.
