Wolves have been strongly linked with a £33 million move for AC Milan’s Andre Silva but after taking a closer look at the forward’s stats, is he worth it?
Gennaro Gattuso has recently been appointed as the permanent Rossoneri manager after a successful spell as caretaker and is unconvinced by Silva.
In fact the 22-year-old has failed to make if off the bench for Milan’s last three Serie A matches and if they can recoup a sizable amount of the money they paid for the Portugal international in 2017 then they would be willing to sell him.
A good deal for Wolves?
This will be greeted in positive fashion at Molineux, with the Sun reporting Silva is the number one transfer target following Nuno Espirito Santo’s side’s promotion to the Premier League as Championship winners.
Wolves are prepared to meet the £33 million asking price for the attacker, who is represented by super agent Jorge Mendes whose clients Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Helder Costa and manager Nuno are already at the club.
However, when taking a closer look at Silva’s statistics since moving to the San Siro, should the West Midlands outfit be so quick to sanction such a significant financial outlay?
The Portuguese’s scoring record of 10 in 39 appearances in all competitions is adequate, but looks far less convincing when it is considered he has only netted twice in 23 league games.
In fact seven of Silva’s strikes came in routs against Shkendija Tetovo (6-0) and Austria Vienna (5-1, twice) in the qualifying and group stages of the Europa League, slanting his stats heavily.
