Two of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ challengers, Cardiff City and Derby County, are being linked with moves for Jerome.
Norwich City’s Cameron Jerome is reportedly wanted by two of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ rivals for promotion. According to the Mirror [live blog entry 15:52], Cardiff City are ‘set to spark a scramble’ for the striker, who is also ‘being monitored’ by Derby County and ‘can go in January’.
Wolves though, are short of strikers themselves, with Leo Bonatini heroically leading the line almost single-handedly this season.
But rather than spend yet more good money on someone who could potentially disrupt the Brazilian’s flow, or who might not be good enough for a likely Premier League campaign next term, would Wolves be better off going for Jerome?
The 31-year-old may have only scored once this season, but he typically finds the net once every three-and-a-half games at Championship level – 16 in 40 last time out – and would surely be grateful for another – perhaps final – chance to play in the top flight.
If nothing else, signing Jerome could at least leave a dent in the aspirations of Cardiff City and Derby County – although it’s not like Wolves really need it, being eight points clear of third place.
