Should West Ham United’s new boss Manuel Pellegrini bid for Harry Arter?

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini is yet to make his first signing at the London Stadium.

Harry Arter has hinted that he could leave Bournemouth, which could put him back on West Ham United’s radar.

David Moyes was plotting a £10 million summer bid for Arter, according to the Daily Express, but he has now parted company with West Ham.

Manuel Pellegrini has now taken charge at the London Stadium and It remains to be seen whether he will move for the Republic of Ireland international.

But Arter’s comments to Sky Sports earlier this week, suggest that he would be willing to leave Bournemouth in the summer, if a good opportunity arose.

“I felt at the end of the season was probably the best time for me and [Howe] to have an honest chat,” he said.

“The relationship has been very good and it still is at this point. He’s someone I respect greatly – he gave me my opportunity back in football, and now in the Premier League, he’s given me three good years there, so the respect will always be there from myself to him and it’s the same from him to me.

“He thanked me for my efforts this year, he thanked me for having a good attitude and being a good person around the changing room and we’ll see what happens in the summer.”

Arter has not played for Bournemouth at all since January, with his first-team chances limited.

However, West Ham do need to strengthen in central midfield, and Moyes clearly felt that Arter had something to offer.

Arter has previously proven his quality at Premier League level.

And if West Ham are looking for a value-for-money signing, then Pellegrini may be wise to follow through with Moyes’ initial plan to sign the 28-year-old.
