Should West Ham try again for Loic Remy?

The Chelsea man is on the move this summer and West Ham United are in need of more fire-power.

Back in August 2016, Sky Sports reported that Loic Remy was in talks to join West Ham United on a season-long loan deal, but when he finally left Chelsea it was for London rivals Crystal Palace, where his recent struggles were compounded by injury.

Fast-forward 12 months and the Hammers are no better off in the striking department. So with Remy tipped to leave Stamford Bridge for good this summer, what chance Slaven Bilic’s side making it second time lucky?

Sky Sports are now claiming Remy is the target of Premier League rivals Southampton and Everton, but West Ham may be wise to throw their hat into the ring and attempt to keep the French forward in London.

The Hammers have been linked with plenty of goal-scorers already this summer but, much like last year, the rumours have fizzled out as West Ham fans have watched in dismay as player after player has moved elsewhere or stayed where they are.

They will be loath to remember what happened last summer, when Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri were brought in with West Ham desperate for goals and left with duds.

Remy’s injury problems may be a concern for those West Ham supporters desperate to see their side invest well this time round. However if Kelechi Iheanacho proves a step too far and Michy Batshuayi is out of their grasp, his fellow Chelsea striker may not be a bad bet.
