West Ham United wanted to sign Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford back in December, so perhaps they should consider a fresh approach this summer.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are keen on bringing Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford this summer. And while most United fans would surely be delighted about such a deal if it took place, it may perhaps have a negative impact on one of the Red Devils’ brightest prospects.

Marcus Rashford has frequently shown since bursting onto the scene that he has an enormous amount of potential, but given how much of a marquee addition Lewandowski would be, it would hardly be a surprise if his chances were limited if the Poland international arrives.

Of course, Bayern’s statement following news of interest in the striker (via Guardian) may perhaps put United off a move, but if it does not and they do ultimately win the race, perhaps West Ham should consider offering Rashford the chance to make the loan move they were interested in putting on the table back in December.

According to the Telegraph, the Hammers wanted to sign Rashford on a temporary deal during the January transfer window, but obviously a deal never materialised.

Unfortunately for Slaven Bilic’s side, they have not signed a goalscorer this summer, and it is difficult to imagine that signing a new striker is not on their radar.

Therefore, if United do sign Lewandowski, a loan bid for Rashford should surely be something they consider targeting as he could arguably be a fantastic signing for the Hammers as they look to put a difficult year behind them.

Not only is the 19-year-old extremely talented, but he would also arrive with a point to prove if Jose Mourinho gave a deal his blessing, and West Ham should try and make sure that if he does become available for a season, they are the ones to bag his signature.
