West Ham United need more quality in depth in the midfield department, and should consider a move for Manchester United’s Michael Carrick.
Manchester United’s Michael Carrick
Manchester United’s veteran midfielder Michael Carrick has failed to establish himself as a regular first-team starter this season, following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as manager in the summer.
If his situation has not changed at Old Trafford by the time the January transfer window has opened, he will surely look for a move in order to gain more regular first-team football.
West Ham should take advantage of Carrick’s current situation at United, and make a January move for their former player.
The Hammers fans have been forced to endure an abysmal start to their Premier League campaign, although back-to-back victories have lightened the toxic mood that was beginning to envelope the Olympic Stadium.

Slaven Bilic’s men seem to be too heavily reliant on Mark Noble as their only real ball-playing midfielder, and when he is either not playing or having an off day, the Hammers’ performance levels seem to drop alarmingly.
The acquisition of Carrick, 35, would take some of the burden from Noble’s shoulders, and would vastly improve West Ham’s ball retention and distribution from the midfield area.
The Manchester United man has well and truly entered the twilight years of his career, and any kind of potential move will depend heavily on his desire to play regular football.

A move to the Hammers would seem to benefit all parties involved in the sense that United would be ridding themselves of a player who Mourinho quite obviously does not fancy and West Ham would be gaining a highly experienced midfielder who would most definitely add a level of class to their side.
Carrick himself would have a far more involved role than the one he is being given at present, and a move to his former club could be the ideal way for him to finish his career.
